1938 - John has been researching Rusyn, Slovak and Hungarian genealogy since 1991. He was born and raised in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Wilkes-Barre. John is a 100% Rusyn and is the son of Katherine Basar and Michael Hudick. John's maternal grandparents are Vojtech "George" Bassar and Anna Penxa, who emigrated from Osturna, Szepes (Spiss) County, Slovakia in 1903 and 1907. John's paternal grandparents are Andrej Hudik and Anna (Yanchik) Jancsik who emigrated from Hostovice, Zemplen County, Slovakia in 1898 and 1901. John is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served overseas in Alaska, Okinawa, Micronesia, Korea, Taiwan, and Hawaii. John has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University, San Jose, California and worked as an aerospace electrical engineer in Silicon Valley of the San Francisco South Bay Area. John also holds a U.S. Patent. John is now retired and lives in Grants Pass, Oregon. |
